I get motivated by colleagues who “practice what they preach.” That said, this is the start of a series that will highlight folks that are doing great things in their community.
Amiena Mahsoob is the Director of Education Programs for The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh (WAC). Among many other duties, she designs and organizes nearly 100 global education events annually for students all over the world (including Pittsburgh, PA). We crossed paths when I joined the WAC Pittsburgh Marathon team called “The Worldrunner’s.” Side note: PLEASE DONATE to the 2014 team!!! Over the years, collaborations have taken place with Amiena and her team via networking events.
Amiena was recognized in 2013 with the ATHENA Young Professional Award for Women. The ATHENA awards focus on mentorship among women in Pittsburgh, PA. Amiena, I am tweeting this post to my niece, an 8th grader that lives in Virginia. It is women like yourself that continue to cultivate the pipeline of strong leaders for tomorrow. Thank you!
A wife and soon-to-be mom (YAY!), Amiena lives with her husband Andrew and dog in the Swissvale neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Please check out the media piece below showcasing Amiena’s outstanding work in the community. I will be adding updated press on the folks highlighted in this series, so check back in the future.
[box] The Practice/Preach Series: Each chosen individual is a cherished part of my network. They bring values that encompass compassion, inclusiveness, charisma and a sense of strength to every part of their own life. The goal is to increase their personal brand through nothing but the facts. #PREACH #connectarian[/box]
