[box] Blog Post/Series Description: Dolores is my maternal grandmother living with Alzheimer’s Disease. A woman who helped shape me to be the man I am today. These posts highlight anecdotal stories about her life, her family and the legacy she will leave.[/box]
I got to celebrate my 30th birthday with Dolores. We will watch “The Mrs. Carter Show” on repeat next time I visit.
For my actual 30th, which took place on July 15, 2013, my mom, brothers and other family members gathered to surprise me at McMinn’s Bar in Castle Shannon, PA. However, we started the night with cupcakes at The Baptist Homes. It was so great to love, hug and kiss all of the people who came out on my special day.
On July 29, 2013, I traveled to D.C. and attended the “Mrs. Carter Tour” featuring Beyonce with Grace. One lucky 13 year old, she thoroughly enjoyed herself. We had standing room only seats in the pit for the duration of the show. She even inched her way into a crowd of gay guys and well, learned lots (she is her grandmother’s granddaughter). One couple even explained to her that they were recently married in Maryland. A lot of things have changed since I was 13.
Enjoy the show!
