Dolores Part 12 – Asparagus

[box] Blog Post/Series Description: Dolores is my maternal grandmother living with Alzheimer’s Disease. A woman who helped shape me to be the man I am today. These posts highlight anecdotal stories about her life, her family and the legacy she will leave.[/box]

Another Nuni Monday.  My step-dad prepped pork chops in the crock pot, but it was up to me to make the side dishes.  The Minute Rice was extra fluffy. The vegetable was… freshly steamed ASPARAGUS!!!!

Nuni tasted it and boldly critiqued that the asparagus was not done.  We sat and ate, and can I tell you, she slowly ate the majority of those healthy green stems.  Later, a dear friend stopped by with dessert.  Nuni was able to enjoy BOTH a dark chocolate torte as well as lemon squares.  I was trying to make her decide on one or the other and when my friend kindly interjected with a big smile, “Let her try them both.”

The moral of the story here is, life is TOO SHORT.  When at all possible, taste all of the desserts!!!

  1. You actually make it seem so easy along with your presentation however I find this topic to be really one thing that I think I might never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely extensive for me. I am having a look ahead for your subsequent publish, I¡¦ll try to get the cling of it!
